DCProf's Week 12 Ballot

RankTeamReason
Alabama #2 BPI strength of record and #3 strength of schedule. Won at Houston. Every SEC win by +11 points
Purdue #1 BPI strength of record, only loss to Rutgers. Tied with Kansas for most Q1 wins
Kansas State #4 BPI strength of record. Top of standings in strongest conference in the country.
TCU Aggressive ranking for sure but heavily weighing 23 point win at Allen Fieldhouse.
Kansas Back-to-back loses but still #3 BPI strength of record and leads country in combined Q1/Q2 wins (11)
Houston Nothing on resume suggests that Cougars should be ranked in top 5. #7 BPI strength of record.
Arizona 6-2 in Q1 with head-to-head wins over UCLA & Tennessee. #6 BPI strength of record.
Iowa State #10 BPI strength of record. No loses outside Q1. Head-to-head win over Texas.
Texas #9 BPI strength of record. No losses outside Q1. Blew out Gonzaga.
Tennessee #11 BPI strength of record. But Kansas is only win over top 40 team.
Virginia #8 BPI strength of record. But fewest combined Q1/Q2 wins (6) of any team ranked in my top 16.
Xavier #12 BPI strength of record. Kansas is only team with more combined Q1/Q2 wins than X's 9.
Marquette #19 BPI strength of record. 8 combined Q1/Q2 wins & blew out Baylor.
Baylor #13 BPI strength of record. All 5 loses to teams ranked in my top 13. Beat Gonzaga & UCLA.
UCLA #5 BPI strength of record. No losses outside Q1. But who have they beat? Best wins over Kentucky/Maryland. Lost head to head to Baylor.
Gonzaga #15 BPI strength of record. Wins over Alabama, Xavier, & MSU. 8 combined Q1/Q2 wins more than any team below them.
Charleston #17 BPI strength of record. 20 consecutive wins. Only loss to UNC. Won all but two conference games by +11 points
Florida Atlantic #14 BPI strength of record. 18 consecutive wins. However lost to the worst team in the SEC (only loss).
Auburn #18 BPI strength of record, but only one Q1 win on the season is fewer than even FAU.
New Mexico #21 BPI strength of record. Impressive wins over SMC, SDSU, & BSU. Bad loses to Fresno & UNLV though.
Miami (FL) #22 BPI strength of record. 5-3 in Q1 games, head-to-head win over Rutgers.
Rutgers 6 combined Q1/Q2 wins, bad losses early in season were playing without 2 starters. 2nd place in B1G & only team to beat Purdue
Clemson Two Q4 loses offset by fact that Tigers: 1) first place in ACC, 2) more combined Q1/Q2 wins (7) than any team I have unranked, 3) 4-2 v. Q1
Saint Mary's 9 game win streak. Top 10 in Ken Pom, NET, and Bart Torvik.
Providence #25 BPI strength of record. No bad loses unlike some of the other teams battling for this final spot in poll.

Overall Rationale

Fell out: #17 North Carolina State, #21 UCONN, #25 Michigan State. Others considered: UCONN, Michigan State, Duke, & Missouri.
