| Rank | Team | Reason |
|---|---|---|
Arizona |
Michigan |
Houston | The Cougars blewout UCF and then went to Provo and beat BYU. They had a good week, and the four teams in front of them last week all lost, so Houston slides up to #3
Iowa State |
Nebraska |
UConn | UConn took at loss St. John's. Good thing for the Huskies, a whole lot of other teams also lost, so they only drop from #3 to #6 with a far from bad loss
Duke | Duke stomped BC and then got upset at UNC. Just like UConn, it was a fair enough loss and everyone else lost, so they don't take a huge hit
Illinois | Illinois blewout Northwestern before taking a close OT L at Michigan State. The Illini drop a few spots, but don't get penalized very hard for a close loss at a great opponent
Gonzaga | The Zags got upset at Portland and then took care of Oregon State on the road this week. They hang on to a top 10 spot due to all the chaos, though that Portland L does hurt their resume
Kansas | The Jayhawks won at Texas Tech and and beat Utah easily. They slide all the way into the top 10 thanks to stacking high profile wins after a bad Big 12 start
North Carolina | The Tar Heels took care of Syracuse and then upset Duke. Ever since their disastrous California trip, UNC has honestly looked way better and like a real threat again
Michigan State | The Spartans got tripped up at Minnesota before getting a big win against Illinois to make up for it. The results canceled out in my mind, they just got flat out jumped by KU and UNC in my mind
Saint Louis |
Florida | The Gators went and blowout Texas A&M on the road. Florida still looks like one of or maybe even the) the hottest teams in the country.
Texas Tech | The Red Raiders took a close L to Kansas and then beat WVU on the road. The Red Raiders slip a bit from the loss, but stay above the teams below them due to resume
St. John's | The Red Storm survived vs DePaul and got a huge upset win against UConn. Non-confrence didn't go how St. John's would like, but they've been absolutely crushing in Big East play
Purdue | Purdue didn't help their case with a very close game against Oregon this week. The Boilermakers have just not been playing great these past few weeks.
Miami (OH) | The Redhawks just keep winning and hold the best record in the country.
Virginia |
Arkansas |
Clemson |
BYU | BYU took L's at Oklahoma State and home vs Houston. They have now lost 4 straight and 5 of 6, so they're now teetering on dropping out of the top 25
Vanderbilt | The Commodores took a bad loss to OU this week. Credit for nearly pulling of a magical comeback, but they still lost. They still have a great record and ok resume, so they stay ranked.
Kentucky | The Wildcats have been hot with a blowout of OU and a win against Tenessee. They have won 8 of their last 9 and seem to have figured out whatever was wrong earlier in the year
Iowa | Iowa got a win at Washington and vs Northwestern this week. They just keep winning, so they slide in with a very solid 18-5 record in a tough Big Ten
Other teams seriously considered: NC State, Utah State, Alabama, Villanova Other teams on my radar, but not seriously considered: Liberty, Belmont, Stephen F. Austin, Santa Clara
