| Rank | Team | Reason |
|---|---|---|
Purdue | (-) It's a coin toss between Arizona & Purdue. I went with Purdue because of the dominance shown in that crazy 30 point victory against Texas Tech.
Arizona | (-) Would not be mad if they were #1.
Duke | (+2) Solid win against Kansas this past week. They've shown me more promise than Houston thus far.
Houston | (-) I'm still not sold on them, so I had to have them get leapfrogged.
Louisville | (+1) The win against Cincy is solid enough to move them up one.
UConn | (-3) Yes, they lost, and with it being early in the season, they have to fall for the loss, but I'm not holding a loss to Arizona against them, especially when they still have that nice BYU win.
Alabama | (+4) They lost to Purdue, but with wins over St John's & Illinois, they look strong!
Michigan | (-) Similar to Houston, I don't know if they deserve this high of a ranking but they're undefeated currently still.
Florida | (-) The loss to Arizona looks even better now.
BYU | (+2) I think I was a little too harsh on the loss last week and they dominated against Wisconsin this week.
Michigan State | (+3) Picked up another top 25 victory this past week. I feel I may be underrating them still.
Gonzaga | (-2) Did nothing of note this week but they won. This is a good team.
Illinois | (-6) I don't know how impressive the Texas Tech win is after Purdue bludgeoned them, but Illinois fought hard against a great Alabama team so they don't fall too hard.
Iowa State | (-1) Solid week of basketball but not much happened. Moved a spot down just due to other teams impressing more thus far.
North Carolina | (-) The Kansas win doesn't impress me as much anymore, but I think there's a clear Top 15 and they're in it. It gets murky after this...
St. John's | (+4) I might've been too harsh with them last week and I do think Alabama beating Illinois makes their loss to Alabama look better.
Vanderbilt | (+1) I think their win over UCF looks more impressive after this week than it did last week, which is enough to make them pass Tennessee...
Tennessee | (-1) ...Cause Tennessee has played no one yet really...
UCLA | (NEW) I think I overreacted last week. The slow start with close victories against EWU & Pepperdine, combined with losing to Arizona scared me, but they looked more dominant this week.
NC State | (+2) Solid win over VCU this past week.
Georgetown | (+4) I'm just really impressed with Georgetown so far and I think they deserve more attention. Those wins against Maryland & Clemson look better this week.
Indiana | (+1) They look solid thus far.
Nebraska | (NEW) The wins over Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Kansas St aren't groundbreaking, but they're all really solid wins this early in the season.
Utah State | (NEW) The wins over VCU & Davidson have impressed me and I think they'd be ranked if they were in a power conference so fuck it, I'll rank them.
Iowa | (NEW) I think they look good so far and, with Xavier picking up the pieces and improving, that win doesn't look too shabby now.
OUT: Kentucky (16), Texas Tech (19), Wisconsin (21), Kansas (24) - I just don't think any 2-loss team should be ranked this early, even if both losses are good losses. And for Wisconsin, after how badly they lost, that one loss is more than enough. 26: Ole Miss, 27: Baylor, 28: Ohio St, 29: Oregon, 30: Arkansas
