DCProf's Week 5 Ballot

RankTeamReason
Houston Not as tested as other top teams, but #1 in BPI, Torvik, & Ken Pom
Texas More tested than Houston, ranked #2 in BPI & Ken Pom, #3 in Torvik
Purdue #1 in BPI strength of record
Virginia Struggled a bit against FSU but two quality resume wins this past week
Tennessee Mysterious loss against Colorado, but rank them ahead of Jayhawks because of head-to-head win
Kansas Wins against Duke, NC State, Wisconsin, & Seton Hall. Only loss to Tennessee
Baylor My preseason #1 team, good wins over UCLA & Gonzaga; lost to UVA when they shot lights out…not sure what happened against Marquete
UConn Dominated Oregon, Alabama, & ISU…but think that may have been a hot week rather than this being a legit top 10 team. Will get tested this week at Florida
Arizona Looked sharp in Maui with wins over OSU, SDSU, & Creighton…then came out flat against Utah.
Arkansas Only loss by 3 to Creighton without best player
Alabama Building solid early season resume. Only loss to UCONN
Maryland Willard doing amazing job. #5 Strength of Record with wins over SLU, Miami, & Illinois
Gonzaga Still top 10 in BPI, Torvik, & Ken Pom. Losses to Texas, Purdue, Baylor, but wins over Kentucky, MSU, Xavier
Kentucky Rebounded from early season loses to MSU & Gonzaga. Likely top 10 team by end of season.
Auburn Less tested than other ranked teams, but undefeated with wins over SLU & G. Mason. Margin of victory over SLU *much* worse than Maryland's
Indiana Wins over UNC & Xavier…but that UNC win losing value. Got clamped down defensively at Rutgers
Creighton Understandable loses to Arizona & Texas, but bad loss to Nebraska.
Duke Wins over OSU & Xavier, loses to Kansas & blowout at hands of Purdue
Illinois Wins over UCLA & Syracuse, loses to Virginia & Maryland
UCLA Win over Oregon, loses to Illinois & Baylor, belief that they were overrated in preseason remains intact.
San Diego State Wins over OSU, BYU. Only losses to Arizona & Arkansas
Iowa State Wins over UNC & Nova not as strong as names suggest, but hard to not rank in top 25 at the moment.
TCU Wins over Iowa & Providence after slow early season start
Charleston Top 20 BPI strength of record: lost to UNC; beat Richmond, Davidson, CSU, VT, & Kent State
Xavier Three close loses to Indiana, Duke, & Gonzaga, wins over Florida & WVU

Overall Rationale

Fell out: #16 Michigan State, #22 North Carolina, #23 Saint Mary's, #25 Drake. Others in consideration: Iowa, Marquette, Miami, FL, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Ohio State
