| Rank | Team | Reason |
|---|---|---|
Kansas | (--) Handled Duke and still look like #1.
Auburn | (+1) Winning Maui a huge statement, the only other logical choice for #1.
Tennessee | (+2) Quiet week so they jump up as others took some lumps. Looking dominant on D and Lanier is legit.
Iowa State | (--) Only loss to Auburn and proved themselves in Maui with 2 other wins.
Marquette | (+4) Continue to rise as those around them stumble. 2 big wins but going to Iowa St and then hosting Wisconsin this week. Very tough.
Kentucky | (+4) Similar to Marquette the beneficiaries of teams stumbling but continue to dominate and sitting on the win vs Duke
Oregon | (NR) Nobody had a bigger week than Oregon, beating A&M and Alabama. Get USC and UCLA this week to begin Big 10 play looking like a contender.
Duke | (--) Not going to ding them for going blow for blow with Kansas. Losses to 1 and 6 so far but as FR grow they will get more and more dangerous.
Purdue | (+5) 2 solid wins against NC St and Ole Miss to bounce back from the Marquette loss. Small lineup is going to be good going forward.
Gonzaga | (-8) Loss to W. Virginia took some shine off but bounced back to beat Indiana and Davidson in dominant fashion.
Alabama | (-5) Big win over Houston but lose to Oregon, solid week but need Youngblood back to take a step forward.
Cincinnati | (+3) Still haven't played anyone but dominating bad teams.
Baylor | (+3) Huge matchup with what will be a hungry Uconn team this week.
Wisconsin | (+5) Strong start to the season, but Arizona win has lost some shine. Big win over Pitt this week kept the train rolling though.
Florida | (NR) Quietly dominating bad teams. Similar to Cincy as they haven't played good teams yet.
Houston | (-4) Lost twice in OT this week, but obviously missing Shead offensively so far.
Pitt | (+7) Lost to Wisconsin but big win over Ohio St to cement themselves as a really good team early on this year.
Memphis | (NR) Out of nowhere Memphis got to the Maui champ game and deserve to be ranked despite Auburn handling them easy.
Oklahoma | (NR) Not sure anyone expected the Sooners to win in Atlantis but hey they deserve a ranking after that.
Ole Miss | (NR) Big win over BYU and then went blow for blow with Purdue, losing in OT. Beard has them playing well.
BYU | (-1) Tough OT loss to Ole Miss but bounced back to beat NC St. Solid team not great.
Illinois | (NR) Beat Arkansas and those FR Europeans look legit. Going to be a problem in the Big 10.
Ohio State | (-2) Lost to Pitt close but still with a win over Texas are deserving of a ranking.
Texas | (+1) Getting better and better, have too much firepower to be left out of a top-25.
Michigan State | (NR) They can't shoot but they find ways to win. Izzo has a lot of young talent here and they beat UNC.
Dropped: UConn, Indiana, UNC, Tx A&M
