zags-not-zogs's Week 5 Ballot

RankTeamReason
Michigan (Prev: 15) Absolutely stunned. This team flipped a switch and is leagues ahead of what it was in the first 2 weeks of the season. If they sustain this, it might be over for everyone.
Duke (1) I believe in the ceiling. But some of their games have been closer than I would've expected.
Purdue (2)
Arizona (4)
Louisville (5)
Iowa State (9) Great showing at Players' Era. A shame that the format jobbed them.
UConn (7) Strong win against Illinois. Interested to see how Mullins acclimates.
Michigan State (12) It's time for me to stop doubting this team's ceiling. I'm so glad that Izzo's middle finger to the modern era is actually working
BYU (10) Decent showing in their MTE. I'm still lukewarm on them though. Maybe it's just that I don't like their corporate vibe
Vanderbilt (14) Smashed through the Battle 4 Atlantis. Sleep on the Dores at your own risk
Tennessee (13) #11-14 on here are basically interchangeable. The Vols looked so good this week until that KU game.
Gonzaga (6) What on earth? Looked dominant, then looked like a wet noodle against Michigan. I can't put a team that just got blasted by 40 in the top 10 in good conscience.
Alabama (8) Blasted 2 inferior opponents and got outmatched by the Zags w/out Wrightsell. This is a good team still to hit its ceiling.
Houston (3) They are not there right now. Went 2-1 at PE but didn't look good in any of the games.
Illinois (11) Didn't look great in either game this week. Bradislav Underivic's outfit makes me a believer, though.
Indiana (24) Had a hard time ranking from here to the end. IU has just looked very good so far, so I jumped them ahead of a bunch of meh teams.
Kentucky (19)
Kansas (Not considered) Proved me wrong. They showed real fight without Peterson to go 3-0 at PE. Seems like a real cultural swing from the last 2 years.
Auburn (Next 10) Got blasted by Michigan by less than the other two LOL. But impressive victories in their other 2 games.
Texas Tech (21) Close scrape against Wyoming at home. This team is barely above their floor right now. I still think they can get a lot better.
Iowa (Not considered) I am shocked how good they are in year 1 of McCollum. Stirtz might be even better this year?
USC (Not considered) I don't like the mercenary vibe to this team, but they got it done in Maui.
St. John's (17) Put up a good fight against ISU. Maybe shouldn't have them ranked still. Can they hit their ceiling?
Utah State (23) Almost a disastrous loss against Montana St at home. Keep those metrics high, Aggies!
Saint Mary's (20) No shame in losing to Vandy, but it's strange to see SMC lose the pace battle. Didn't look as good in Atlantis as they did before.

Overall Rationale

Dropped out: Florida (16), NC State (18), North Carolina (22), UCLA (25); Next 10: North Carolina, Baylor, Florida, Butler, Nebraska, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Wisconsin, TCU
