Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Purdue | (Prev 1) |
| Kansas | (Prev 3) |
| Houston | (Prev 5) |
| Arizona | (Prev 2) It got hard around here. Arizona had the least bad loss of the teams around this spot, and still has the best wins of the group. |
| Tennessee | (Prev 8) After that nasty middle stretch, has been playing very well. Computers like them now too. |
| Illinois | (Prev 9) One of a few teams to survive the carnage of the last two weeks, and that FAU win keeps looking better. |
| BYU | (Prev 10) The strength of schedule is ridiculously weak, but they also are destroying these crappy teams. Also survived the last two weeks. |
| Marquette | (Prev 6) Two road losses to tough teams and a loss against Purdue aren't much to worry about, plus has good wins. |
| Kentucky | (Prev 13) I don't know that I truly think this is a Top 10 team, but they've played extremely well. |
| North Carolina | (Prev 14) Good wins, with some good losses. |
| Florida Atlantic | (Prev 24) With the win over Arizona, we have to start throwing that absolutely bizarre Bryant loss out the window. Kind of like UK with UNCW. |
| UConn | (Prev 4) Losing Clingan I think is a bigger deal than we think, and foot issues can really linger. Not a great showing this week after he went down. |
| Texas | (Prev 11) I still believe in this team, but other teams around them are doing better things. |
| Oklahoma | (Prev 7) Never believed too greatly in this team. The results are what they are, but I think they'll really struggle in the Big 12. |
| Wisconsin | (Prev 17) Survived Chicago State! |
| Ohio State | (Prev 19) Holding a team to 36 points is always impressive, no matter how bad they are. |
| Memphis | (Prev NR-28) Has put together a great string of victories, and that loss to Ole Miss keeps looking better. |
| Virginia | (Prev 12) Still not sure what to make of this team. Feels like a team that will lose a 5/12 or 6/11 game in the tourney. |
| Gonzaga | (Prev 16) They're dropping because they're just beating bad teams and losing to good ones. A tough team to evaluate, they really only have a couple of tough games left. |
| Duke | (Prev NR-31) Duke comes back into the poll with the win over Baylor. Computers still love Duke too. |
| Baylor | (Prev 15) Both losses are excusable, but their best win remains against Auburn on the first game of the year. |
| Clemson | (Prev 18) That loss to Memphis is looking more excusible. |
| James Madison | (Prev 21) Didn't move down for a reason, but they're going to keep getting leaped by teams playing better schedules. |
| Colorado State | (Prev 20) Same, leapfrogged for just not playing anyone. |
| Ole Miss | (Prev 25) I feel like I have to keep them ranked as long as they keep winning. But I don't have to put them higher. |
