| Rank | Team | Reason |
|---|---|---|
Vanderbilt | 0 Top 5 same as last week. Reasons haven't changed for the ordering because of few new games this past week.
UConn | 0 UConn's "extra" top 10 opponent and win over BYU gives them the edge despite the loss against Arizona.
Arizona | 0 See above
Michigan | 0 Michigan's schedule outside of Gonzaga has been pretty pedestrian. Not giving them much credit for the W over Auburn until the Tigers win more (not the Detroit ones).
Michigan State | 0
Gonzaga | +5 Jumps for Gonzaga and St. Mary's comes from the fact that they were among the few teams that had a game over Christmas Break
Saint Mary's | +6
Iowa State | -2 Undefeated but too many hollow (5) wins over really really poor competition compared to the teams ahead of them.
BYU | -1
Nebraska | -3
North Carolina | +3
Duke | -3
Purdue | -3
USC | -2
Texas Tech | 0
UCF | 0
Kansas | +3
SMU | 0
Illinois | +5 Boost for vanquishing Mizzou
Alabama | -1
Houston | +2 Still faced weak slate overall. Record is not all that special given who all they've played.
Villanova | NEW
Utah State | -2
Tulsa | -1
St. Bonaventure | -3 (10-2) Still hanging onto the top 25 by a thread but are losing stamina as their initial schedule (UNC) continues to be diluted.
Attempt at a strictly resume-based ranking of all relative quality of wins and losses. D1 only and H2H is not explicitly factored in. Early season diversity in OOC schedule strength will cause outliers compared to more traditional style polling. There's not a whole lot of slack to be found for teams that started out rough since there's lots of teams out there with pretty decent records and fairly equivalent overall schedule strengths.
