Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kansas | Will get a few losses since the B12 is stacked but will still win the conference. |
| Purdue | They still have Zach Edey for one more year so he will make it better than last year. |
| Duke | They will probably win the ACC but they have Miami and UNC to worry about. |
| Michigan State | They will challenge Purdue for the B1G title. |
| UConn | Big East is stacked so I am not sure if the defending champs will win. They have Marquette, Creighton, Villanova, and maybe even St. Johns to worry about. |
| Houston | They will have a tough time in the B12 so idk if they will be this high once conference play starts. |
| Creighton | Very tough Big East but they have a good chance of winning still. |
| Marquette | Same reason as Creighton. |
| Tennessee | They have Arkansas, Kentucky, Texas A&M, and Alabama to worry about. They also have Texas coming to the SEC next year. |
| Gonzaga | Either them or St. Marys will win the WCC. |
| Arizona | Last year of the PAC-12 and they only have USC and UCLA to worry about. |
| Florida Atlantic | They should win the AAC easily. |
| Miami (FL) | Could challenge Duke for the ACC again. |
| Arkansas | Very stacked SEC like usual but they should finish top 5 in it. |
| Kentucky | Not their best last year but they are still a good team. |
| San Diego State | They almost won the championship and will likely win the MW. |
| Texas A&M | Stacked SEC so they might fall off the rankings when conference play starts. |
| Baylor | Baylor is in a hard position with the Big 12 being so stacked. |
| North Carolina | They didn't even make the tournament last year but I think they could this year. |
| USC | Bronny James = Pac 12 contention. |
| Texas | Hard Big 12 and they move to another really hard conference next year. |
| Saint Mary's | Again, this team or Gonzaga is winning the WCC. |
| Alabama | The No. 1 team last year for regular season is all the way down at 23. |
| Illinois | Illinois might actually win the Big 10. |
| Villanova | Villanova is better than last year's disaster. |
This is just the preseason poll and many things can happen during the season so this will not be good rankings compared to the end of the season. Teams I would put in but no room: UCLA, Wisconsin, Colorado, Maryland, TCU, Virginia, Auburn, St Johns This is the only time I am putting reasons.
