| 2 | Duke | Duke is incredibily loaded as usual. Returning Caleb Foster, Patrick Ngongba, Dame Sarr, & Cayden Boozer, while bringing in John Blackwell, Deron Rippey Jr, Cameron Williams and Boumtje. |
| 3 | Michigan | The Defending National Champions are bringing back Elliot Cadeau, Trey McKenney & Roddy Gayle Jr. They also got some great portal additons in Moustapha Thiam, Jalen Reed, Kenny Noland & JP Estrella. |
| 4 | Illinois | Illinois returns David Mirkovic, Andrej Stojakovic, Tomislav Ivisic, Zvonimir Ivisic & brings in star transfer Stefan Vaaks & 5 Star freshman Quentin Coleman. |
| 5 | Miami (FL) | Miami has a very deep and talented team bringing back Shelton Henderson & Malik Reneau, while getting massive additions such as 5 star Caleb Gaskins, Acaden Lewis, Somto Cyril, LJ Cason & DeSean Goode |
| 6 | Houston | Should be another great Houston team, returning Joseph Tugler, Chase McCarty, Mercy Miller and bringing in transfers Dedan Thomas Jr, Corey Hadnot II & Chendall Weaver. |
| 7 | Arizona | Arizona has a very well rounded roster. Bringing in Top 5 Freshman Caleb Holt, RS FR Bryce James, returning Krivas & Kharchenkov while adding JJ Mandaquit, Derek Dixon and RJ Godfrey from the portal. |
| 8 | Arkansas | Calipari has another stacked roster led by Freshmen Mikka Muurinen, Jordan Smith Jr, JJ Andrews, Abdou Toure, Davion Thompson and star upperclassmen in Billy Richmond II, Jermiah Wilkinson. |
| 9 | UConn | Dan Hurley should have another contending team led by returners Silas Demary Jr, Braylon Mullins, Jayden Ross & Duke transfer Nikolas Khamenia |

| 13 | Kansas | Kansas got huge returns in Melvin Council Jr & Tre White while also adding star freshmen Tyran Stokes & Taylen Kinney and some underrated portal additons in Leroy Blyden Jr and Dennis Parker Jr. |
| 14 | BYU | Another really talented BYU roster bringing in 5 star Freshman Bruce Branch III, returning Robert Wright III and bringing in huge transfers in Collin Chandler and Jaxon Kohler. |
| 15 | Tennessee | Tennessee built a pretty good roster almost exclusively from the portal adding Juke Harris, Dae Dae Ames, Jalen Washington, Jalen Haralson, Tyler Lundblade, Miles Rubin & Terrence Hill Jr. |
| 16 | Texas Tech | Texas Tech is a very experienced team led by star seniors JT Toppin, Donovan Atwell, Darrion Williams & Cruz Davis. |
| 17 | Purdue | Purdue is falling under the radar a little this season. I expect huge leaps from CJ Cox, Gicarri Harris and 7'4 Center Daniel Jacobsen. Enzo Shahrvin & Caden Pierce make good additions as well. |
| 18 | St. John's | Pretty big Portal class for Rick Pitino bringing in Ian Jackson, Keyshawn Hall, Tounde Yessoufou, & Reed Bailey. Freshmen Quinn Ellis & Babacar Sane were also huge gets. |
| 19 | Kentucky | Kentucky has it's question marks but definitely seems like a top 25 roster with the return of Malachi Moreno & some big portal splashes in Milan Momcilovic, Alex Wilkins, Zoom Diallo & Justin McBride. |
| 20 | Virginia | Chance Mallory, Thijs De Ridder & Sam Lewis were huge returnees, Jurian Dixon & Christian Harmon were nice portal additons as well. The depth of this roster is somewhat unproven though. |
| 21 | Texas | Marcus Spears Jr was a huge addition, they also bring back Vokietaitis and bring in key transfers in Isaiah Johnson, David Punch, & Elyjah Freeman. Not sold on this being a top 10 team though. |
| 22 | Alabama | Alabama returns Aden Holloway, Amari Allen, London Jemison & bring in 4 star Freshman Jaxon Richardson and some good transfers such as Drew Fielder & Brandon Garrison. |
| 23 | North Carolina | I expect this UNC team to really surprise people. Neoklis Avdalas is going to be really good & I like the additons of Terrence Brown, Matt Able, Maximo Adams & Sayon Keita as well. |
| 24 | Oregon | Despite losing Dana Altman this team has potential. They return Sean Stewart and add a lot of talented transfers such as Taylor Bol Bowen, Dwayne Aristode, Jasper Johnson, Tyrone Riley IV, Fred Payne. |
| 25 | Iowa State | Iowa State returns Tamin Lipsey, Blake Buchanan and Killyan Toure and adds some good portal pieces such as Leon Bond III and Jaquan Johnson. |
Overall Rationale
My preseason rankings are based on comparing rosters across college basketball, weighing returning talent, transfer portal additions, and incoming freshmen. I use those factors to determine which 25 teams I believe are best positioned heading into the new season.
