| Rank | Team | Reason |
|---|---|---|
Duke | DDMF this is the year (not coping)
Houston | I know it's just Montana Tech, but they doubled them up. Also they have some good ballers
Arizona | Yeah
Vanderbilt | They got a win at a neutral site against an allegedly good Virginia team. I see no reason that Florida should be better than them atm (LIKELY TO CHANGE)
Florida | On paper very good. On the court, it seems their 3-ball struggles may persist. We'll see soon enough, anyways.
Illinois | Twinning the Baylor exhibition loss. Tbh Baylor looks pretty good
UConn | They're legit I think
Texas | Yeah
Kansas | Yeah
Michigan State | Exhibition loss to UConn but UConn is just like that I guess...
Iowa State | 1. Their projected quality is really good (6 on KP). 2. They lost to Creighton. 3. Big East is looking pretty good, not sure Creighton is all that bad.
Alabama | They gave up 93 against Furman. This will be a FUN team to watch.
Texas Tech | I find it really funny that Duke replaced their Michigan matchup with a likely superior opponent.
Gonzaga | Yeah
Saint Louis | They beat the CORNHUSKERS! A10 representation baby! 3-bid league (absolutely coping)
Virginia | Lost to Vandy, but I think Vandy is pretty good, and it was a close-ish game. They're also pretty deep which I think is more relevant later in the season
Nebraska | Let's go CORNHUSKERS! (Lost to SLU lol)
Louisville | Yeah
Arkansas | Calipari is a good coach
Texas A&M | Yeah
Tennessee | I'm writing this while I'm tenting for Duke's game vs them. Loss to Xavier isn't what you like to see, though.
Baylor | Two great exhibition wins! I'm actually pretty impressed with this team, and I think the Mingos will be a powerful duo
Grand Canyon | Kenpom's highest midmager comes in at... 44th. Depressing how much better the P5.5 is than the rest
Michigan | Even if they're not as good as last year's squad and they have a new coach and roster and stuff, I think they can carry some momentum into the season
VCU | Their efficiency isn't that great, but they always manage to have a pretty competent roster, don't they.
THIS WAS FILLED OUT ON OCTOBER 19 WITH SOME SMALL UPDATES ON OCTOBER 23 (Baylor up, Illinois down). I don't think I really accounted for ALL exhibition games, but it's pretty hard to keep track since nobody really tracks them all in one place. Currently, pretty much everything is Kenpom and exhibition. Kenpom will mostly go out the window very soon. Exhibition will be replaced once a team proves that their exhibition self was not them (for better or for worse). Keeping an eye on: pretty much all of what Kenpom shows is top 50 or so. Wild cards that I subjectively think could be good this year: Miami FL, Auburn, Baylor, UNC (yuck), and Creighton.
